Institut de Médecine Nucléaire d’Abidjan (IMENA)

Stage en physique médicale - Simulation Monte-Carlo et optimisation en imagerie SPECT

Monte Carlo simulation and optimisation of SPECT acquisition protocols.

Work carried out

  • Model SPECT acquisitions using SIMIND and the instrumental characteristics of the gamma camera used at IMENA.
  • Process simulated projections and reconstruct three-dimensional images with PyTomography.
  • Analyse volumes with AMIDE and Fiji, defining regions and volumes of interest (ROI/VOI).
  • Use Python scripts for data processing, plots and evaluation of contrast, noise and counting statistics.
  • Perform quality-control phantom acquisitions using Jaszczak and hot-sphere phantoms with technetium-99m.
  • Process DICOM data with InterView XP and compare experimental measurements with simulations.
  • Study the effects of count statistics, collimator choice and acquisition parameters on reconstructed images.
  • Participate in gamma-camera quality control and hospital radiation protection practices.
